2025 Impact Report - Because of you, healing is possible.
Dear Friends and Supporters,
As we look back on 2025, our hearts are filled with gratitude for your continued support of Friends for Survival. For more than four decades, our mission has remained steadfast: to walk alongside individuals and families grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide with compassion, understanding, and hope. This year, your generosity allowed us to strengthen that mission in meaningful ways—reaching more survivors, expanding critical programs, and deepening the connections that sustain our community. We had loss survivors from 47 different states and four countries receive our services in 2025.
Your gifts—whether through donations, time, or heartfelt encouragement—have made a profound difference for those navigating one of life’s most painful losses. Because of you, survivors are met with empathy in their darkest moments and reminded that they are not alone, that community exists, and that healing can unfold with support.
Thank you for being part of this vital work. Together, we are bringing light to the darkness of loss.
With deep gratitude,
Susan J. Reynolds
Executive Director, Friends for Survival

Friends for Survival provides compassionate peer support, education, and resources to those grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide. Through support groups, grief materials, and community outreach, we help survivors navigate their healing journey and find hope after devastating loss.

unique suicide loss survivors participated in our peer support meetings. While each individual is counted once, many returned to multiple meetings as part of their ongoing need for peer support.

Our groups allow suicide loss survivors to connect with others who truly understand their loss, creating safe spaces for shared understanding, comfort, and hope.

In addition to peer support, we provided free grief resources to members of the suicide loss community. This booklet offers guidance, understanding, and practical tools to help individuals navigate the difficult emotions that follow a suicide loss.

Our Comforting Friends monthly eNewsletter encourages each of us to pace our grief while giving us a sense of connection to the larger community of fellow grievers.

Suicide loss survivor Stephanie Chandler authored this helpful resource with first responders in mind.
“These booklets are for first responders to provide to families who have experienced a suicide loss. It’s what I wish someone had given to me. My hope is that this little booklet will provide some small amount of comfort and healing."

Iris Bolton and her niece, Kit Casey, crafted this guide, expressing their experiences and insights through words and art.
"The Little Book on Grief..." is for you to read, to share or to give away. Iris and Kit wish to address grief in the community by sharing their wisdom-born-of-experience. The original publication was funded by the authors, Arthur Blank (co-founder of The Home Depot), and contributing family and friends. Starting in 2023, with Iris and Kit's blessing and permission, The Little Book on Grief is exclusively offered by Friends for Survival Publishing, free of charge.
